**Short History of my BikeTrials Life...**
I've been riding bikes all my life, but never anything but road on my Trek hybrid until November 1997, when I bought a 19" Schwinn mountain bike and started mountain biking. **I started practicing trials on my mountain bike January of 1998** (read [how I got into trials](/articles/me-trials_story.html)). In April 1998, I got a Ross 164 mod bike, and in February 1999, I got a [1999 Monty X-Lite mod.](/mymonty/) I toasted that frame within 4 months (if you didn't know, the first generation frames had a design flaw, causing the seat tube to rip out of the top tube at the weld) and got a warrantied [2000 X-Lite frame](/monty/version.html). Right after I put the new bike together, **I upgraded to Expert on June 19, 1999** for Cook Brothers Hopfest. I'll be practicing with the goal of doing well in Expert Mod. Of course, I don't really care about winning, I ride for fun. It's just that doing well and improving is fun for me. **I got 3rd place in Expert Mod at Mammoth Nationals July 16, 1999, and 1st place in Expert Mod at Observed Trials Magazine Annual Comp #1 in late September. I've won a couple Fontana events, and also won the Austin, Texas trials comp this year. Not to mention taking first expert mod at Motorama 2000...**

**More Personal**
I will be a 4th year at UCLA, majoring in Philosophy. I haven't had time to update this page much, but hope to soon! (8/19/2000) I ride trials about 5 hours a week.
