# Kris Leeson's Prototype Leeson 660 💀

Kris Leeson's prototype Leeson 660 frame. Ultra short chainstays (check out
the gap between rear tyre and seat tube), cool unpainted frame finish and finely
tuned competition specific geometry could make this the new standard in lightweight
stock frames.

 

Chainstays this short require a unique solution to the tyre/chainring clearance
problem. The bottom bracket shell is an increased width (the cups of a normal
73mm shell XTR bottom bracket fit inside the frame) with a machined yoke joining
the chainstay. The left hand chainstay is completely straight making for an
extremely rigid rear end.

 

Other novel features of the Leeson frame: Rear axle is a bolt through design
for increased rigidity. The hub is a modified Hope Ti-Glide - extra wide flange
spacing for a dishless rearwheel and 6 speed titanium freehub body. The disc
brake is a machined Hope item that looks more like a circular saw disc. The
disc caliper attaches to both the chain and seat stays.

 

Derailleur mounts on a small plate bolted onto the chainstay
