Review
These cranks feel great. Tensile made some good design choices, including the special spline for the bashring on the crankarm, the machining at the end of the freewheel threads so any freewheel will thread on completely (seemed to be done for the White Industries trials freewheel - which I'm using with this crank), and the replaceable steel pedal threads. The bashring (85 mm diameter) is super-light at only about 50 grams.
Photos don't do these cranks justice - they are high-polished and look gorgeous out of the box. The CNC work is nice, and the "Tensile" logo is CNC'd into the side - very cool touch.
The only minor issue I had was that I couldn't press the right crankarm on far enough by hand to get the short FSA crank bolts to reach the bb spindle threads. Several taps on the crankarm (covered with a shop rag) with a hammer did the trick, and I was able to thread in the bolt and tighten it on the rest of the way. If you get these, don't forget to grease your ISIS spline before installation.
Another thing I noticed was that the crankarm can scratch up your ankles a bit - but I wear shoes that cover my ankles, so it's not a problem for me. |
