It felt great hopping on it. Perfect for someone beginning, with absolutely no idea how to pedal kick. Once you start to learn, parts will need replacing, as with any bike. The freewheel, we will all agree, is the weak point. This however will not be an issue if you can't pedal kick yet.

Highly reccomended as a starting point to the most addictive and gratifying sport ever!

Well i've had the bike for about 5 months i think now and i've noticed a few problems with it since i've been using it. The freewheel and brakes are definite need-to-replace parts. I've recently switched to avid 7's for the front and back, with a pair of plazmatic spanish fly pads for the back, and for the front, stock pads with a tarred rim. Works pretty well so far, but i havent gotten to any endo tricks. The freewheel and cranks i also replaced, to an ENO freewheel and Echo cranks. The bike has been amazing so far and keeps impressing me with its durability. The Tank is an extremely good bike for its value, and it can be just as good or even better then an echo or koxx, with much less money put into it.

I bought this bike off eBay. I've ridden it maybe 5 hrs so far. Front freewheel broke at approx. 1 hr. Tank sent another crankarm with freewheel, and it broke about the 5th hour. Now I'm waiting for a third one. I'm 150 lbs. and new at this so its not like its abuse. After talking with Stephen at BikeTrials.com, I found out about loc-titing my freewheel to keep it tight, so hopefully that will help. Good bike when the freewheel works!

Great for the price. Still riding mine after about 8 months. Definatly buy new brakes, i snapped the rear brake right off the bike, and i wrecked the freewheel after 3 months. The problem with the freewheel can be fixed by using loctite to keep it in place, or by replacing it. The fork is starting to bend on it, and i've gone through 3 xt square taper bb's but thats just cause i ride it alot.

Editor's note: I recommend using an LX bottom bracket instead of an XT if you must switch, since they're much stronger. It sounds like you're very rough on your bike!

just got this today. put it together and rode it for maybe 20min and the freewheel sucked my pants in and didn't let go.. now I have a 4" hole in my pants!!! but thats expected of a f.f.w.. good geometry (but its the first mod I've tried). brakes are terrible, I don't trust them at all. pretty tough stem and bar, grippy pedals. ugly as sin. I'll write another once I've had more time with it. good first impression considering it was under $300 cnd.

Didn't wait for the freewheel to break, replaced it with a 17 tooth and it's much easier to pedal kick and hop. Will replace brakes when they break, but the stock brakes (once set up) work at least as well as my HS33's with plazmatics. I know there's room for improvement, but at this price you can afford to improve it.

Great beginner bike but it needs a few upgrades so you won't hurt yourself. Brakes are the worst I have ever used. One of the grips flew right off the handlebar(literally) when I was doing a bunnyhop. After repeated endos the headset loosened up and on of the rubber seals just fell out.

The good: This bike is perfect for a beginner. I also suggest getting some Avid SD7's and quality levers with Plazmatic spanish fly pads. Simply yet awesome braking. Replaced headset with a $20 FSA Pig. Pedals replaced with some $20 platforms and put my old ODI lock-on grips on. Bike is great now. Getting on the back wheel is real easy and I'm already starting to get a couple back hops after a week. Endo's to back wheel were very difficult with my Kona Roast but this bike makes it effortless (almost). Can't go wrong for the price if you are beginning. This bike should do for the next year until my skills progress beyond it. Go get one if you are just starting. Thank god someone sells a cheap beginners bike. I would have had to wait another year probably to buy a decent trials bike if I didn't find the Tank Mod. Yes.

For the amount that was spent to purchase this bike; this is a great starter for me, the frame alone should be well worth the money I put in.
Yes, the bike looks cheap and has low-grade components that probably won't last very long for an experienced trials rider.
The crankarm threads were stripped out of the box, replacement freewheel and crankarm came within a week, I couldn't wait for the replacements so I "Gorilla glued" the freewhel to the crankarm.. so far I've been riding the bike in my basement for total of ten hours, the glue still holds. I will wait until it gives to put on the replacement crankarm/freewheel.
I upgraded the brakes to a set of old LX v-brake from my MTB.. a pair of Avid brake levers, some teflon cable housing.. that totally transformed this bike. As a beginner who is still learning how to trackstand, wheelie and stoppie, this bike has been excellent.
The frame construction is great, worthy of upgrading to better components as you wear out the stock parts.

This is a great bike for the price. I would suggest replacing the brakes asap. when i first got the bike i pedal kicked off a ledge, the brakes sliped and i fell on my butt. that kinda sucked. i wouldnt buy maggies because a set cost more than the bike. but over all this is a great beginner bike.

I bought this bike to try out trials. Figured what the heck it's only $200 dollars. If I don't like it no big deal. But any money spent on something you can't use is a bad deal. Read on...

First, one of the V-brake spring adjust housings blew. Not a surprise since it's plastic. And it was still rideable so I carried on. Next the freewheel totally blew out. It's a cheap piece so I wasn't surprised by that either. BUT - since it's a front freewheels system, that limites your buying options (especially in the economy range). The ACS Claws freewheel, known for its strength, doesn't fit because the threads don't go all the way through. Bummer. The Dicta did. But finding a 20t freewheel can be challenging. I was fortunate.

Two rides after getting the freewheel problem resolved, the forks bent. BAD. Does it surprise me? Maybe not. I mean you expect trials bikes to be built for abuse so I was a little surprised, but based on the build quality of everything else, not really. So now I'm stuck looking for a V-brake equiped modified trials bike fork- no an easy task (most are hydro or disk brakes). And even if I could find one, it will likely be $125 or more. I should have just started out with a Monty lower end and sucked up the extra cost up front. Live and learn.

(Bottom bracket is starting to weaken too... but without a fork, I'm not going to be worried about that anytime soon!)

I just bought a Tank and have had about 12 hours of riding so far. I've had a few problems with the bike so far. First, when I was setting up the brakes a hairline fracture occured when tighting the screw that holds the brake cable. Second, the brake levers seem very wobbly. I'd also like to note that the multi-tool that came with my bike for setup was pretty much useless. The open end "wrench" on the end was bent. However, I've definitely been enjoying the bike. I bought new pedals and a new freewheel and Avid SD-7 Brakes will be here soon.

i bought this this bike about a month ago and it is awsome. it is so easy to hop on the back wheel. the whole front freewheel idea SUCKS! but after i replaced my freewheel with an ACS i locktightened my freewheel and crank. the brakes are realy not too bad at all, but i am considering upgrading to some avids eventually. im going to keep this bike and continue to upgrade parts as they break. i definitely recommend this bike.

as a beginner it is a good bike but now i need something else. the bike is awsome for the price. i havent had a problem with the freewheel yet and if you set up the brakes right there are not to bad. but the bottom bracket comes loose and the rear hub. after a while of riding i noticed that the fork started to rake out. but other than that it is a good all around bike to get started out on.

cant beat the price! the bike is great for its price. i come from a mountain biking and skateboarding background so big drops are no big deal. the frame feels very sturdy and is easy to get up on the back wheel.after about a week the headset started to loosen and one of the rubber seals fell out. i recomend getting these upgrades: better brakes or at least buying some Spanish Fly Pads, new freewheel, and grips the grips always loosen

great bike to ride i loved it, when i first got the bike the free wheel was crunching inside and broke, my friend had an extra one and i was lucky to get it. next was the fork, the fork was bending after a 7 foot drop i took at my home town. its a great bike when u fix the fork and freewheel. i love the frame, for a beginner it would be really easy to get good at trials with this bike.
when the fork and freewheel is fixed it's really a great bike. i bought new brake pads and some tar and it works just as good as a hydraulic tar rim brake. trust me its a great beginner bike.
