This is a really good upgrade to your bike from canties, or shotty tektro vees.
Have decent power and a nice feel, not hard to setup and well a great bang for ya buck!
get these till you have the money to get ultimates or not so expensive yet great vee single digit!
this is really the only bit of shimano i reccomend from shimano other than the xtr brake booster.
also dont get parralel push vees, like lx/xt/xtr and arch rivals for the rear brake, they develop play in the pivots and get really bad and noisy!

i have used more kinds of brakes than you can imagine

Review
for the money paid these brakes are rippers, probably the only shimano product i actually like. with decent pads they are a good choice of v-brake if you have little money to spend, or want something that works and is not going to fail for the front.

at the moment i am using these on the rear. i was planning on buying some ultimates later on and putting these on the front to replace my promax (ha) v-brakes, but at the moment i can't be bothered - these are good enough. i will end up doing it though, if you have lots of money to spend then getting something better for the back isn't a bad idea.

one thing that i don't like is the pads that they come with - after about a month the cartridge snapped in half and flew out of the casing during a pedalup. was sore. the pads didn't stop overly well anyway.

quite powerful, easy to adjust, cheap, very reliable

Weaknesses
pads suck, only powerful on certain rims(i'm talking about width)

other shimano vees

Review
best v brakes i ever had. extremely simple to adjust, they don't flex, very good shimano product. if you have the perfect width at the rim its extremely powerful. this varies at each frame. at my tucana it works very well on 30 mm wide rims because the arms/pads move parallel. since i got my tryall rim it lost a bit of power(47mm wide:P).the stock pads suck a lot get some plazmatics and you're good to go. if they are set up right they outperform maggies but like i said you need crappy rims:(. avids are better than these but a lot more expensive so these are very good. new pads + toothpaste/tar and you'll have some superb brakes.one problem if u buy wide rims youll hit the brake arm with your foot even if you remove a few spacers from the pads(it happened to me)

shimano Lx V-brakes (para) pivits

Review
i bought these brakes last december.Biked all last winter. and the still stop on a dime. I just got Shimano Lx v-brakes, and i read some of the reviews on them, about the pivits going in them and the noise that later creeps up. So i have decided to put my deore v-brakes back on i do alot of jumping and dirt jumping so i dont think that Lx is the way to go for me , i am going to stick to deore. does anyone else use deore v-brakes for dirt jumping?
