I've got a 2003 2.9 (272cc)

Firstly the negatives...
It's marginally underpowered. This isn't really a bad thing, as it's easier to set the throttle for a step and know exactly how the bike will react.
The non-adjustable forks. Well, do you want to ride it, or fiddle with it?!

On the plus...
The bikes are set up logically for the users they are targetted for.

The 2.9 is an Expert-only bike. The responsiveness is toned down, as the riders on this bike shouldn't get in trouble often and it allows for better traction control on super-steep climbs. Very powerful for slingshot riding.

The 2.5 is the most responsive bike on the planet, as it's riders (Intermediate) like to have the engine react instantly to throttle response, thereby saving many marks. Still just as powerful as the 2.9 in slingshotting, but is less likely to through you off the bike if you overcompensate.

The 2.0 is the greatest newbie's bike built. While other "200cc" bikes have quad-piston front brakes, the Sherco's twin piston stoppers allow for just as powerful, but less-likely-to-lock-up, braking performance. The geometry is fine-tuned, with a slightly shorter swing-arm for better turning control. The idle is set up so you scarcely need to use the clutch; the bike will idle around corners and even up some slight hills. And the motor is so incredibly smooth, it really is like an electric motor.

Maintenance is barely an issue. I've had a Sherco before, and it got mistreated to the shizenhousen. Alas, I replaced the oils, cleaned it up and didn't even touch the settings, and it was like a new bike for sale! The other bikes I've had would have shot to pieces long before! The engines are incredibly reliable.

Anyway, I think you get the idea; nothing goes past these lovelies. For a brand that's only been in operation since 1999, they're establishing themselves as the #1 worldwide very quickly.
