This frame is a great frame for trials and is easy to kick hop because of the top tube is quite long. this is probily the best all round trials frame for price, weight, looks, strenth along with the planet x zebdi.

Review
This frame comes in 1060 mm and 1080 mm wheelbase versions, instead of 1010 mm like the ES4 it replaces. I got the 1060 version. It feels much better for a 6 foot tall guy like me. The headtube angle has also been slackened from 74 to 71.5 degrees, further mimicking the Koxx Level Boss frames. This gives some of the extra wheelbase, as well as making it easier to roll down things.

The bike, overall, looks to be of a much higher quality than Echo's earlier frames. The downtube goes from octagonal near the headtube to elliptical at the bottom bracket, similar to the Orange Zero. Only problem I've had is with the drive side dropout - apparently it was damaged in shipping, which causes the derailleur hanger to move when I tighten the skewer for the rear wheel. After bending the derailleur hanger to get my chainline straight, though, I haven't had any problems.

Overall, I like the frame. The polished aluminum with a clearcoat looks great, and the frame fits my riding style well ("Pure" natural and urban trials, with very little street moves thrown in). The frame is quite stiff - I can't feel much flex when sidehopping or pedal-kicking.

I really appreciate the straight seat tube, which allows me to run a real seat and seatpost, and push it down when I've arrived at a riding spot.

At 4.2 lbs, it's not a super-light frame, but it is stiff, strong, and is a whole lot lighter than the Koxx Level Boss frames, which have similar geometry. Looks like a good buy for the money.

Review
I went from the ES4R to this frame and the bike feels really good for trials riding. The extra wheelbase and top tube make it easy to move the bike around. The headtube makes you feel like you can roll most things without going over the bars and helps when jumping to your front wheel or doing hook moves. I like this bike for riding natural a lot more than the ES4, however the ES4 had a bit more stand-over to the bike. I cut a small amount of the seat tube down and modified a uni seat to give an extra inch of clearance. Also, it’s good to be able to run a regular seat when going on a street ride or doing a demo, otherwise a uni seat works fine. Overall this bike is solid, has good trials geometry and holds up well.

i got this bike a few months ago and at the time it was the only one in the U.S., and so far it is the best stock bike i've ridden. the standover height is just right and the chainstays are as short as the old echo es4's. you can also run about a 2.6 tire in the back. i really cant find anything bad about this bike. its a great bike for the money

There is normally a simple rule when picking a bike frame. Pick two of the options below.

*Cheap
*Strong
*Light

Echo have come out with the pure which has managed to avoid this rule. There have been no cracks at the time of writing this review (01/04), and they are light and cheap (compared with other trials frames).

Since purchasing this frame i have noticed a massive difference in the hight of my pedal ups, tap ups and wheel switches. I am also to tap much more easily of a 1 pedal rotation run up. They are easy enough to manual and bunnyhop with the slack headangle while still being easy to steer. Overall the geo is the best i have felt. It just feels right. I know a particular koxx rider who prefers the geometry to his koxx.

The only slight problem i had was the headtube where the headset cups go in. It was slightly smaller then recomended. Its internal diameter measured in at 33.50mm when the acceptable range is 33.70-33.90. It is suggested when it is this small you get it reamed however as i am running a cheap noname ahead set i risked it. It is also good to keep in mind that a booster is certainly required. Try to steer clear of the echo boosters as they are not the stiffest. I have also heard of people having to run a tap through the bb shell. If you are building the bike yourself make sure every thing looks nice and clean, if in doubt ask someone who knows.

I have the 1080mm frame. The dedicated 4-bolt mounts and the guides for rear hydrolic (HS-33) are super. You will need to run a wide rim on the rear (Alex DX32 is ideal) for the dedicated mounts to match up to the rims properly. The bottom bracket works best with 118mm and some spacers on the drivetrain side. I used the RaceFace Downhill Signature and some spacers and got it aligned to center and it works really well. One of the above reviewers had made worried about the crank clearance. As with most trials bikes, you're only good for 5 gears on the rear and the spacers on the drivetrain side can help in that department. That was a bit strange being a new trials rider.

The frame looks super sweet, and I couldn't imagine being happier. I like the fact that it has a seatpost. If yo u don't want a seatpost, I'd check out the Zoo Pitbull as well.

I just had my pure built up about a week ago, and im lovin it. i was riding an echo urban 1040 wheel base and i now its the pure 1060. i really like the length. it has helped me greatly. its slightly harder to stay on rear compared to the urban due to the length. its easy to wheelie and manual and esp. the japslap. rolling down is a breeze and so is gapping. the front is nice and stiff and rear is nice n bouncy. i really really like this frame.

ive done a lot of urban on this frame and 2 comps in expert stock. this frame is outstanding for urban and natural. In urban, gaps and up are good. 3'4" up and 8' gap, no way i could do that on the echo urban. If you like stocks, this is the bike to get. You'll love it!

This must be the finest frame out there, there is only one frame that I can think of that can compete with the pure, the levelboss...
I had an urban for about a year, and have now gotten hold on a pure, in just a few days I startes to mange things better. from 2m gaps to 2.35m+, from 102cm to 117 front touch and so on.
If you have the money, buy it.

This frame feels great. The geometry is spot on, allowing most of my trials moves to be further, longer, etc. The functional seat post is nice for those long rides across campus. For only $100 more, you could have a Koxx Levelboss or a Desalvo, so I feel like the price for this frame should be closer to $500. Overall this frame is a great value.

this frame has helped my development a lot, i ride the newer 1085mm with 10mm BB rise. its extremely stable on the rear and easy to pedal up/tap but still bunnyhops well. also wheelswitches and wheelbase moves are easy with the extra space. seems to hold up well when dropped, but put a good chainstay protector on it. overall a great frame for the money, however the welding is a bit shoddy and that scares me.

Awesome bike. I had and ES-1 but snapped it, so Echo sent me the Pure as a replacement. What a blessing, rides good, very stable on manuals, and rear wheels no problem. The only thing i had a problem with when building it was the BB to clear the frame. Thank God i found a rare 118 length and even that barley cleard the frame. I'm still looking into finding a better BB to use since this is square taper. Well yes so far it's been an awesome trials and skate park bike

This is a great bike. It has the sweetest feel.
One of the other reviews mentioned the BB length; I use a standard Shimano Ultegra 118.5 and it works great (and the splines match my XTR cranks).
The frame cost me $800 (Australian) compared to $1100 for the Koxx. So I got a lighter, cheaper bike. I'm stoked!
