Aside from the improvement you gain from a trials specific frame, this is the only thing that will make you better. You will need a stainless freehub body. And the fun folts are great. I bolted my rear deraileur on with it. No more hanger disasters.

You can get extra strong springs for the ring drive mech. And hand picked engagement rings from Jen at C.King. If all bike products were made to such exacting standards the world would be a better place!

I bought this hub used and in decent condition as i couldn't cough up the retail for one in time (my old hub went bust very fast, cracked inside shell and freehub). Before purchasing, i also looked at the Hope XC's, which cost the same new as my used CK, but am glad to have made this choice as it has been nothing short of excellent so far. While i can't say that it has improved my riding as much as say a new frame, it has certainly given me a lot of confidence doing rear wheel moves and helped me progress doing gaps and such. A very well made product that seems well worth the price so far!

This is still the best hub for trials. Mine didn't skip for about a year then it started to, i hadn't touched the inside of it at all in this time. So i opened it up pulled everything out clean it re oiled it with good oil and lube, and now it works like a dream!

If you have the money, get it! maybe get a steel freehub body instead of the alloy. cassette digs in if the gear isn't mounted on a carrier.

Also maybe get the iso because it has higher flanges, meaning a stiffer wheel.

Awesome hub!

I really really like this hub. This hub has helped me a lot (for natural trials). This thing is light. and it comes in cool colors. Even though they cost a ton, i really like them. AND, they come with cool stickers. A MUST HAVE!

Strengths
consistent performance, high engagement rate, strong freewheel mechanism, light overall weight, strong axle and hub shell, smooth sealed bearings

Weaknesses
very occassional skip (never under load, so no danger), bearings loosen up in first month or so of use (minor problem)

Similar Products Used

This hub is considered by most who have used it (and most who haven't) to be the best trials hub out there. High number of engagement points (more than in any other REAL engagement system), very strong freewheel mechanism and overall construction, and the second lightest MTB rear hub on the market!

Overall an incredibly high standard of manufacturing and design, yielding excellent performance and longevity.

This is by far the best hub I have ever used. I have had no skips, all you need to do is, as soon as you get the wheel built, tighten the cones slightly tighter than finger tight (pin tool is good for this) so there is more resistance and less chance of skipping and the hub won't come loose and won't get damaged.

This hub had improved my riding and feels great, i have no regrets, and i would recommend them to anyone.

4/5 just because of the lack of steel freehub body as standard.

Once you've ridden a Chris King hub and then go back to a hub with less engagements you can certainly tell the difference.

I have a CK classic with the HD axel, steel driveshell and funbolts. This is rather expensive although totaly worth it.

You'll need to service your hub every 3-12 months to keep it in top notch condition but it's worth it!

Overall this is one of the best rear hubs on the market, so if you've got the money I would strongly recommend one.

If you don't have enough money for this 'bike jewlery' then you should look into getting a Hope hub such as the Hope XC, a strong reliable hub, which I trusted for many years before I got my King.

Keep riding and be happy! :)

I got mine brand new for super-cheap and it was the best investment I ever made on my bike. sound is hard to get used to its not individual clicks the hub has a high-pithched whining sound to it. Overall great hub, best hub for your money so go and get one of your own
